Dollywood Splash Country
It has been super hot on our vacation-statewide excessive heat warnings-ick. Mommy and Daddy decided it would be the perfect day to check out a water park. What better place when you are in Tennessee than Dollywood Splash Country! The four of us got all ready and headed out first thing Tuesday morning.
Daddy, Scarlett, and I after our first round of fun.
They had two huge kids areas, one I was not so fond of (they had a huge bucket that dumped water and we wanted NO part of it). They also had a large pool area with animals that shot water and some slides-this was probably our favorite area.
Showing off my huge muscles after I ate lunch-chicken and strawberries that I inhaled.
We also did the Wave Pool and Lazy River. Scarlett got sort of sleepy on the Lazy River, so Mommy took her for a nap. (I think Mommy napped while she sunbathed too).
After naps and more playing, it was SLUSHIE time!! I picked a huge one and it was cold and delicious.
Cades Cove
On Wednesdays/Saturdays, Cades Cove closes the main 11 mile road for biking and walking. We got up at 5 AM to set out for the bike ride. Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Jon, and Karla had to rent bikes and be there before 7 to get one. Scarlett and Grammi did not join us on the bike ride, but I think they had their own fun.
Taking our first of many breaks. It was already pretty warm and the road is really hilly. The views were so pretty though-totally worth the effort. (I should know, it took a lot of energy to sit in the bike trailer with Addie and let Uncle Adam and Daddy take turns riding us).
We hoped to see some bears, Mommy said that was her number one goal for vacation. We came to an area where we had just missed a bear and were pretty disappointed, but up the road a bit further-TADA! A BEAR!
We found out from the rangers that the bears love the cherry trees. They pretty much destroy them in the process.
After we watched the bear in action we headed off again, only to come across-you guessed it-ANOTHER BEAR!
We also saw wild turkey and tons of deer. The deer were right on the side of the road and not scared of people. This one crossed the road right in front of us.
After our ride, we had a picnic lunch and played in the water to relax.
